BLADDER HEALTH

Bladder issues are very common and can significantly impact your self-confidence, limiting your social interactions and daily activities. Traditional treatments, such as medications and pads, are often costly, uncomfortable, and associated with side effects like urinary tract infections and painful vulvar skin breakdown. At Regain Pelvic Physical Therapy, we assess the tone, strength, and flexibility of the pelvic floor and urinary structures, tailoring our approach to improve bladder control effectively.

We offer treatment for:

  • Stress incontinence: Leakage during activities such as coughing, sneezing, jumping, or exercising.

  • Urge incontinence: Sudden, intense urges to urinate that result in involuntary leakage.

  • Overactive bladder: Frequent urination and nighttime urination.

  • Painful bladder syndrome/Interstitial cystitis.

  • Bladder prolapse (cystocele).

  • Post-void residuals: Difficulty starting urination or fully emptying the bladder.

We also specialize in treating men with incontinence related to chronic prostatitis or post-prostatectomy complications.

PRE AND POST-SURGICAL CARE

Pelvic physical therapy is instrumental in preparing for and recovering from abdominal or pelvic surgeries. We enhance muscle function, coordination, and range of motion for surgeries such as prostatectomy, hysterectomy, prolapse repair, hernia repair, Cesarean births, and bowel resections.

Our treatment also focuses on:

  • Proper lifting and toileting techniques.

  • Scar management.

  • Improving mobility and core strength for daily tasks.

  • Managing diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) and general mobility limitations.

BOWEL HEALTH

The pelvic floor is essential for controlling the anorectal canal, facilitating the passage of gas and stool.

Our treatments support patients with:

  • Bowel incontinence.

  • Fecal urgency.

  • Constipation.

  • Incomplete bowel emptying.

  • Pain during bowel movements.

  • Rectal prolapse and post-surgical conditions such as anal fissure or hemorrhoid repair.

PELVIC PAIN/ORTHOPEDIC PAIN

Pelvic pain can originate from various locations, including the abdomen, hips, lower back, buttocks, tailbone, groin, genitals, and pelvic floor muscles, significantly affecting quality of life.

Our comprehensive treatment approach addresses:

  • Pain in the lower lumbar spine, sacroiliac joint, pubic symphysis, and hip joints.

  • Conditions like vaginismus, dyspareunia (pain during sexual intercourse or tampon insertion), vulvodynia, endometriosis, pudendal neuralgia, coccydynia (tailbone pain), and pain associated with interstitial cystitis.

PROLAPSE

Prolapse involves the loss of support for pelvic organs, leading to symptoms such as a feeling of heaviness or bulging in the pelvic region, backache, lower abdominal pain, and difficulties in bladder and bowel emptying.

Conditions we treat include:

  • Bladder prolapse (cystocele).

  • Urethra prolapse (urethrocele).

  • Rectum prolapse (rectocele).

  • Uterine or vaginal vault prolapse.

Our treatments strengthen the pelvic floor, manage intra-abdominal pressure, and teach effective toileting and lifting techniques to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life.
